ACUPUNCTURE is a techniques used to promote health and well-being by the insertion of very thin sterile needles into the body at specific points, known as "acupoints". These points have been mapped out by the Chinese over thousands of years.
Traditional Chinese medical theory holds that acupuncture works by redirecting qi "vital energy" in the body. Pain or illness is treated by attempting to remedy accumulations or deficiencies of qi. Pain is though to indicate blockage or stagnation of the flow of qi, and an axiom of the medical literature of acupuncture is "where there is free-flow there is no pain; where there is no free-flow, there is pain".
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved acupuncture needles for use by licensed practitioners in 1996. Medical science does not currently understand how these points work, but simple devices can detect change in the electrical conductivity of the skin at these points.
Some insurance companies cover the costs of acupuncture treatment.
ACUPUNCTURE INJECTION THERAPY may be used for all imbalances which are suitable for acupuncture treatment. Trigger points and acupoints are utilized during AIT to inject herbals, homeopathics and nutriceuticals, thus greatly enhancing the efficacy of the substances which are being injected. AIT is utilized for syndromes of pain, including the spine, muscles and extremities. AIT can help promote, maintain and restore good health. It also aids in the prevention of pathogens such as viruses and bacteria. For decades, the Chinese repertoire of medical procedures has utilized acupoints for the injection of nutriceuticals and herbs.
